GLASSON DOCK MARITIME FESTIVAL (U.K.). The Festival that had been held over Easter for
the past 18 years in Lancaster, transferred last year to Glasson Dock and this will be the main venue for this year's
festival - the 20th.
Glasson is a small, characterful C18th port, 4˝ miles south west of Lancaster, on the River Lune estuary. For those
planning to visit, there are a number of campsites in the area, whilst the main stock of serviced accommodation is in
Lancaster and Morecambe. Additional public transport will be provided between Lancaster and Glasson, over the
Weekend by means of a number of classic coaches.
For further information, contact the organisers on Tel.No. +44(0)1524 582810 or +44(0)1524 582872
For greater detail of the festival, visit:Glasson Programme
Since the programme went to print, Hughie Jones has had to pull out, as has Des Newton, who does ships-in-bottles - both
due to health reasons. Instead of Des, there will be Jimmy Elliott, a retired cooper, who will be demonstrating aspects
of his craft. Hughie wasn't formally scheduled in the running orders, but had hoped to be at the Festival and to make
some special guest appearances. Unfortunately, that's not going to be possible now.
