July 5th - 6th

ST HELIER, JERSEY (Channel Islands). "Out of the Blue Maritime Festival."
Come along to the event of the year at the St Helier Waterfront and enjoy a spectacular Maritime extravaganza around the marinas and ancient harbours in Jersey's capital. Enjoy street theatre and an al fresco food fair including meeting the local fishermen and farmers who will give talks about locally farmed turbot, mussels and oysters. Visiting Norman traders from nearby France will also be selling Soup au Poisson and other 'fruits of the sea'.
Artists so far announced are Four'n'Aft and Jenkin's Ear.

July 18th - 21st

LIVERPOOL (UK). "Liverpool ShantyFest 2008."
It will be held in conjunction with the Tall Ships Race start, and performances will again be around the Albert and Wellington Docks but also venturing into the city centre. A showcase concert is planned for the Saturday night.
Artistes confirmed so far include - Les Souilles de Fond de Cale (Brittany), QFTRY (Poland), La Moresca Antica (Italy), The Boat Band, Jim Mageean and Johnny Collins, Hughie Jones, Stormalong John, Scolds Bridle, Monkeys Orphan, One Sheet Short, Four'n'Aft, Bernie Davis, The Liverpool Tradition, Andy Kenna, Jacqueline McDonald, Trim Rig and a Doxy, Armstrong's Patent (Netherlands), Young'Uns, Bitter End and Portsmouth Shanty Men.

SCARBOROUGH (UK). 'SEAFEST 2008'
The venues are the West Pier Stage and public houses The Merchant, Leeds Hotel and Leeds Arms.

August 8th-10th

BREMEN VEGESACK (GERMANY). 'Festival Musik Maritim 2008.
Bremen-Vegesack lies on the River Weser and has a great maritime tradition: the first ever artificial port was created in Vegesack. The place was the port of registry for many whalers and was home to the biggest herring fleet in Northern Europe. The Captain houses, shipyards and maritime trade & industry give character to this northern district of Bremen. The maritime inheritance is still alive and during the festival weekend the riverside echoes to the sounds of sea songs and shanties from bands from all over Europe.
Some of the artists booked for 2008 are:- Bounding Main (U.S.A.), Quai des Brumes, Les Pirates (France), Marejol (Spain), Four´n Aft, Jenkin´s Ear, Stormalong John (U.K.), Forebitters (Denmark), Stowaway, Rapalje, Nelson´s Blood, Armstrong´s Patent, De Kaapstander, Rumor di Mare (Netherlands), M.E.Z.(Hungary), Banana Boat, Orkiestra Samanta (Poland) and Hooks Crookes (Ireland).

October 10th - 12th

HARWICH (UK). "Harwich Sea Shanty Festival".
A full weekend of shanties and songs of the sea in this historic port. Performances and sessions take place in various venues throughout the town. Free tours of the sailing barge "Victor."
Artistes will include Johnny Collins, Graeme Knights, Alan Whitbread, Shanty Crew Buitenboord, Dutch Courage, Naze Shanty Crew, Pete Stockwell, Malcolm Ward, Jon Loomes & Anna Elliott, Golden Rivets, Magwitch, Hunt the Wren and "A Song for Harwich" with Owen Lewis and Bob Watson.

STAITHES (U.K.). "Captain Cook Festival - STAITHES SHANTY WEEKEND".
You are assured of a warm welcome in the beautiful fishing village of Staithes in North Yorkshire for a free weekend of Shanties and Folk Songs of the Sea.
Guests will include Shanty Groups Monkey's Fist and The Endeavour Shantymen, local songstress Wendy Arrowsmith, local lads The Men of Staithes, Festival stalwarts Steve Dawes and Helen Pitt, the big sound of Whitby Community Choir and Richard Grainger who looks forward to being your host for the weekend.
Two of the local pubs will be used as venues; The Captain Cook Inn and The Cod & Lobster. Both pubs boast a fine selection of ale and food.
There is no entry charge, although we do encourage you to help us raise funds through the festival raffles and donation boxes.
It starts on Saturday (25th Oct)afternoon and goes through to Sunday(26th Oct) tea time. Come along relax and enjoy some great singing and music in the atmosphere of one of Northern England's finest locations.
